MOVING COMPANY (2025)

Duration: 20 min. 21 sec.

After months of searching, we finally moved into a place. We spent sixty some odd dollars for cardboard boxes to pack our most valuable objects into, which once sealed, its contents could only be differentiated by a label on the exterior. I grew a fondness for these boxes. Maybe in part because of the price we spent on them, and their expected one time use, but also out of a desire to preserve the peel that held the contents of our potential home. Using materials from the move: cardboard boxes, packing tape and moving blankets, MOVING COMPANY plays with the physical and metaphysical modularity of these objects. How are we carried through movement? How does one become moved…brought to tears…into laughter…repositioned in feeling. How can migration - voluntary and involuntary - in togetherness and collective anonymity - be bound with joy and reclamation between seemingly tattered seams and distant edges.
